Cormar Carpets

Cormar carpets create all of their carpets in England.  LRS Flooring are delighted to arrange for an experienced carpet fitter to fit Cormar carpets in your home in Birmingham, Solihull and the West Midlands.

Carpet styles include:

Twist Pile

The yarn is tightly twisted and set to create a carpet pile with a slightly textured surface.  These are made in plain and heather colours.

Loop Pile

The yarn forms loops on the surface of the carpet, where they are all either level to each other or a textured surface can be created through having loop piles set at different heights.  Berber carpet (a rustic tweed style) is available and contains highlight flecks.  Wool loops are often chosen as an alternative to coir and sisal floors as they provide additional comfort, warmth and durability.

Saxony

Saxony carpets are longer pile carpets made to create a luxurious deep pile effect.  They can be purchased in both wool and man-made fibres.

Cormar carpets deliver to carpet shops and suppliers in and around Birmingham daily so there is never a long delay in getting your new carpet delivered into the West Midlands region.

Cormar carpets have been awarded the prestigious ‘Floor Covering Supplier of the Year’ for the last five years running, as voted for by people in the carpet supply and fitting trade.   For 50 years Cormar have remained a family owned business.

They have created wool carpets for many years and are active supporters of HRH Prince Charles ‘campaign for wool’.

Why buy a real wool carpet?

Real wool carpets are:

  • Durable and hard wearing
  • Keeps its height and pile shape
  • Recovers from furniture pressure marks
  • Produces fewer allergens
  • Is naturally flame retardant
  • Absorbs air-borne contaminants
  • Gives thermal and sound insulation
  • Resists dirt and stains
  • Resistant to permanent marks
  • Reduces static
  • Cushions fall related injuries

The differences between wool carpets and man-made carpets fibres

The main differences between wool and synthetic carpets are that wool is a natural product whereas synthetics are made from man-made chemicals.  Wool is very durable, lasting for many years.  One of its strength is its long-lasting performance as a carpet in high traffic areas.  It requires less fossil fuel in production making it more environmentally friendly.  It is 100% natural, biodegradable and sustainable in nature.

Studies have also shown wool carpets can help regulate air moisture content and absorb pollutants, and so can assist with air quality.  Wool carpets can also bring noise reduction benefits.

A natural light wax that coats the wool makes it naturally resistant to stains and soil.

100% wool carpets or 80% mix.

Whether you wish to enquire about 100% wool carpets or 80% mix they are both available in many styles and colours.  80% wool mix carpets tend to be available in a particularly wide variety of colours.  Wool twists can be fitted in plain and heather styles, including Cormar’s Home Counties and Berwick ranges.  Berber wool twists are also available such as West Country and Natural Berber Twist.

100% wool textured loop piles, twist pile and Saxony carpets are all available.  Cormar mostly manufacture plain and textured tufted carpets.
